The Art of Foiling…

We use our 1976 Heidelberg platen for all of our in house foiling. Another powerhouse of a machine, this is an ASMR dream as it smoothly clunks, clicks and hisses it’s way steadily through your beautiful work.

Foiling is still the best way to embellish any sheet. With hundreds of colours and finishes available this method can really complement great design.

We can foil up to A3 (420mm x 297mm) size sheets. We can source our foils from all the main suppliers. And we were early adopters of the Zero Foil to Landfill scheme launched by FoilCo. So all of our foil waste is shipped back to FoilCo for processing.

The foil is applied via a hot stamping process which involves a metal die that is machined to your design. This means that there are some limitations of what is possible. Font sizes and fine lines may need to be increased to make sure we can match your expectations. We will always try to work with you and advise if any changes might be required.

and design our dies to be made by ….. Although it can prove a more expensive way to print, there is no substitute for the finish you get when you foil. We work with our clients to make sure we get the best results, we may advise to increase line or font size to make sure the detail isn’t missed.
